Say What?

Axl Rose Declares War On Ex-Manager

Axl Rose has waged war against former Guns N’ Roses manager Irving Azoff, accusing him of attempting to sabotage the rocker’s career after he refused to reunite with the band’s original members.

Azoff, the CEO of management firm Front Line, originally filed suit against Rose in March, claiming the singer reneged on an oral agreement giving him 15 percent of his earnings from a big money concert tour – a deal said to be worth $2 million.

But Rose has fired back at Azoff, accusing the music mogul of failing to properly promote the band’s 2008 album “Chinese Democracy” in an alleged bid to force him to reform the original Guns N’ Roses line-up.

In legal papers filed in a Los Angeles court on Monday, the frontman also takes aim at his one-time manager for allegedly lying about a possible joint tour with fellow rock legends Van Halen and mishandling Guns N’ Roses’ tour dates, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The lawsuit states, “Upon realizing that he couldn’t bully Rose and accomplish his scheme, Azoff resigned and abandoned Guns N’ Roses on the eve of a major tour, filing suit for commissions he didn’t earn and had no right to receive.”

Rose is demanding more than $5 million in damages for breach of fiduciary duty, constructive fraud and breach of contract.

Marilyn Manson, Evan Rachel Wood Star in Horror Movie

Marilyn Manson and his 22-year-old fiancée, actress Evan Rachel Wood, will star in an upcoming horror-slasher movie called Splatter Sisters, which is the epitome of art imitating life: last year, Manson — who had yet to reconcile with his on-again, off-again girlfriend — told SPIN.com, “I have fantasies every day about smashing [Wood's] skull in with a sledgehammer.”

Now that’s quality casting.

According to Variety, Splatter Sisters — described as a “sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movie circa 1989″ — will be produced by Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green and film vet Edward R. Pressman (American Psycho, Bad Lieutenant). Adam Bhala Lough, the man behind the 2008 Lil Wayne documentary The Carter, will direct.

“This is a role Marilyn Manson was born to play, and with Evan Rachel Wood bringing dramatic gravity to the ensemble, I have no doubt this will take the horror genre to a new level,” Green said at the Cannes International Film Festival, where Splatter Sisters was announced.

Added Pressman: “Lough’s unique talent and energy will make Splatter Sisters a very special and markedly commercial film. I’ve always been attracted to smart movies about killers made by directors with a real vision.”

No word yet on a release date, but Variety reports that Splatter Sisters is the first film a new franchise of sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movies inspired by horror classics of the 1980’s.

Excited for Splatter Sisters? Or upset that Manson isn’t focusing on music? Sound off in the comment section below.

Omar Rodriguez Lopez and John Frusciante Release Free Album

The Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriguez Lopez and former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante have released a 29-minute proggy and  sonic instrumental album together as part of a charity  for the Keep Music In Schools program.

The  ‘pay what you want’ scheme allows fans to download it for free but are encouraged to pay what they can as all profits are being donated to Keep Music In Schools charity program.

The album titled ‘Omar Rodriguez Lopez & John Frusciante’ was “recorded many years ago” according to the duo, although most of the tracks have remained unreleased until now.

By giving away music, Frusciante is apparently making good on his “musical lesson” to RZA, while the better known half of the Mars Volta continues to blaze his spaced out path to progressive rock immortality.

Brandon Flowers To Release Solo Album

The rumors are true!

Following a cryptic countdown on the Killers’ website that began earlier this week, comes the news that frontman Brandon Flowers is planning to release his debut solo album, entitled Flamingo

Thursday the Las Vegas quartet’s website revealed a “Brandon Flowers” logo and this simple message: “THE NEW SOLO ALBUM — FLAMINGO — COMING SOON.”

In December, Flowers’ publicist told SPIN that Flowers had no intention of going solo, but after finishing their tour behind their most recent album, Day & Age, and dealing with the recent death of his mother, the frontman seems to have changed his tune.

However, the Killers’ aren’t over by any means. Back in January guitarist Dave Keuning admitted the band’s gigs in Australia would likely be their last for a while, but when asked if the hiatus was permanent, Keuning replied, “not as far as I know.”

In response to rumors that the band members were sick of each other, they posted an official statement on their website: “The Killers would also like to take this opportunity to assure their fans that any concerns about the future of the band are unfounded… there are no plans for an indefinite hiatus.”

The Killers also extended their record deal with Universal Publishing, which also covers solo projects, Billboard reports. Killers’ drummer Ronnie Vannucci has also joined supergroup Mt. Desolation alongside members of Keane, Mumford & Sons, and the Long Winters.

Excited for a Flowers solo record?

Trent Reznor and Wife Form New Band

Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor and his new bride, ex-West Indian Girl singer Mariqueen Maandig, have procreated — in the form of a new musical project called How to Destroy Angels.

Details are sparse on the new project, but an email from NIN’s publicist says the group will release a “self-titled, six-track EP this summer.” How to Destroy Angels also have Twitter, MySpace,Facebook,YouTube, and Vimeo pages, plus a new website, which offers the only other clues about the band: an image of a girl that’s presumably Maandig and a video teaser of a pair of woman’s hands (again, presumably Maandig’s) playing evil industrial sounds on a vintage MS-20 keyboard — a keyboard that she confessed her love for vi Twitter back in February.

Not so coincidentally, on Feb. 1. Reznor Tweeted another little hint: “1st official day of work in the studio,” he wrote, commemorating his return to music after NIN’s final live show in September, without specifying what, exactly, he was working on. Well, now we know.

And the news echoes his statements from December 2009, when he wrote, “2010 has a number of things planned including new material from Nine Inch Nails and something else that isn’t Nine Inch Nails. I am in a state of rediscovery and reinvention that feels unfamiliar, unsure and exactly what I need.”

Are you excited for How to Destroy Angels? Or…would you rather wait for NIN’s next release? Tell us in the comment section.

Ozzy Movie Ready To Be Announced

A movie based on the life of Ozzy Osbourne is to go into production imminently. Sharon Osbourne said of these plans: “There’s about to be a big announcement. It’s been picked up and it’s going into production. We’re going to make a press announcement hopefully within the next two weeks. There’s no cast yet, but we have a producer and we have lots of money and we’re all starting.”

Any ideas who you think should play Ozzy? Leave your suggestions below.

Corgan Vs. Courtney On Twitter

Billy Corgan has launched a Twitter tirade against Courtney Love, who’s now known as Courtney Michelle. She in turn, has for once been very restrained in response.Corgan began it all by announcing: “My face is my face, my heart is my heart, my money is my money. Oh, and my songs are MY songs (alluding to the fact that he allegedly wrote songs for the just-released Hole album Nobody’s Daughter). If you can’t write your own songs maybe you should just be happy that you fooled someone into doing your work for you. Maybe you should go (somewhere) nice [and] live off your husband’s money, (you) know, the money he made for writing all those great songs”.

Not satisfied, he carried on by taking a swipe at the fact that Courtney recently lost custody of her daughter, Frances Bean: “The world is aware of your lack of responsibility, as seen in the (government) taking away your parental rights. Only you could abandon such a beautiful, incredible child who is smarter than (you), cooler than (you), and better than (you). Oops, did I say too much?”

So far, all Courtney has said is: “All I am is nice about you so if you wanna be mean, be mean”.

We wait the next round of insults.
